"Why Do people get judged by their income?"

By Gavin O.

Martha has always worked hard for extraordinary grades. For eight years she has had the best grades in her class, just to get the scholarship jacket. Her family had not provided the most influence, but she still had the best grades. Martha sister also won the jacket and martha was next in line…. They both earned it. She has worked as hard as she could for the jacket. Martha is treated unfairly because her grandparents don’t have as much money as other kids.

She has done all this with difficult circumstances in her family. Marthas father left her with her grandparents. Her father did not have enough money to take care of her because he had other children. Marthas grandparents did not make much money and owed a small bean farm, so martha could never go to camp or play sports because they couldn’t afford Martha has always worked hard for extraordinary grades. Her gym teacher thought she would be a good forward it basketball though. This is why she need the jacket to give her more opportunity in life.

It's very unfair for someone to be given the jacket just because influence or their parents. To me, getting something because of influence of parents or income is cheating and it's unjust. Martha won the jacket without the influence, so imagine how much more that means to her compared to the girls who almost won because her dad was on the board.

Martha is treated unfair because her grandparents don't make as much money as other kids. Luckily she fought hard and against the odds and ended up with the scholarship jacket. The problem is not all kids win in the end and it's not fair or right, but it happens. People need to figure out how to end unjust actions like this one.
