Rachel’s Age

By Peyton G.

When people feel younger it's as if age is holding them back. Life can be difficult when that's the case. I actually have a theory about an eleven year old girl named Rachel who exhibits this same behavior Rachel wants to act older to resolve issues in her life.

Rachel wishes she could act older to resolve issues in her life. Out through the story she hints that she’s not content with being eleven. She says things like “I wish I was 102 instead of eleven...”. Rachel also says “I wish I wasn’t eleven because of all the years inside of me…”. I see this as a trend.

Rachel wants to solve her own problems but, she thinks age is holding her back. Rachel was thinking that, if she was older she would have been believed by her teacher during the incident. During the incident Rachel was forced take ownership of a sweater against her will by the teacher. In addition, Rachel says, “I would have known what to say instead of just sitting there.” She’s referring to the fact that if she was older she would have known what to say.

Rachel thinks she’s “acting younger” by crying. She says, “All the years inside of me (...) are pushing at the back of my eyes.” Rachel’s saying that she’s about to cry because when she was younger she cried a lot more. She also states that she’s crying in front of everyone. That makes it much more embarrassing. This all points to Rachel wanting to be/act older.

This is just because Rachel wants to act older in her life. It’s not always easy. Hopefully she reaches her goal. After all she won't be eleven forever.

Being Eleven can be Hard

By Kaylee H.

Have you ever had a bad day on your birthday? Well I can tell you about a girl named Rachel who has a terrible day on her birthday. And nobody likes to be sad on their birthday. So there for in the story Eleven, Rachel doesn't feel eleven years old.

In the story Eleven, Rachel talks about how she doesn't feel eleven. Rachel says “What they don't understand about birthdays and what they will never tell you is you are also 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2 and 1.” Rachel doesn't always want to go out and be in public. Rachel has never been very popular even her teacher did not really like her that much. Her teacher Ms.Price was always yelling at her.

Rachel talks about her Mom making her an eleventh birthday cake even though she doesn't feel eleven. Rachel doesn't feel good on her birthday. On Rachel's 11th  birthday she feels like no one is being nice to her she feels let down. Rachel has never felt older on her birthday. It takes awhile for her age to set in.

Rachel also talked about how she still needed her Mom like a little girl. This is because of the ages leading up to it. And she will still need her Mom even when she is twenty, thirty, and even forty. Rachel doesn't like her birthdays at school because of her mean teacher Ms.Price and her classmates they are always being rude to Rachel.

As you can see in the reasons listed above, in the story Eleven, Rachel does not have a good day on her birthday. I believe this reason because Rachel is getting yelled at in the story by her teacher Ms.Price. And know one feels good when someone is yelling at them. I can remember one time when I was having a really bad day on my birthday. I hope you enjoyed the reasons I have listed above for you don't wait go and read the story Eleven today.

A Sad Birthday Story

By Mikayla Renee

Birthdays are supposed to be happy, but sometimes birthdays can be sad. In Eleven it is all about a girl on her sad birthday. Rachel (the main character) is sad on her birthday because of her teacher and students on her birthday.

Rachel was very unhappy because of of the way people treat her on her birthday. Her teacher Mrs. Price says the sweater is Rachel’s because Sylvia Saldivar said it was Rachel's plus Sylvia is Mrs. Price’s favorite student. Another reason is Mrs. Price said, “Now Rachel thats enough”. As you can see no one is nice to Rachel.

Mrs. Price doesn’t what Rachel thinks about the red sweater. Rachel said “That's not, I don’t, You’re not… Not Mine,” but Mrs. Price ignored her. Mrs. Price saw that Rachel had pushed the sweater so far off of her desk it would fall if she pushed it any farther. So she made her put it on for the rest of the day. That is a few reasons Mrs. Price is not fair to Rachel.

Sylvia Saldivar is not very nice to Rachel about the red sweater. She said, ‘‘I think it belongs to Rachel.’’ Sylvia also tells Mrs. Price that the sweater is Rachel's because she said she saw her wearing it which was a lie.

So as you can see it is bad that she basically gets bullied and was so sad. On her birthday to it is so sad even when just reading Eleven. In conclusion birthdays are fun not sad.
